Franz Cede, Austrian ambassador to Belgium and NATO, discussed "The Role of Diplomacy in the 21st Century" as part of a Thursday, Nov. 15, Global Diplomacy Summit at Cal State Fullerton.

In addition to being ambassador to Belgium, Cede also is co-author of "The United Nations: Law and Practice," published in 2001, and "Negotiating European Union," published in 2004.

The Global Diplomacy Summit is part of "A Global Community: Golden Opportunities," a weeklong celebration in recognition of International Education Week and the university's 50th anniversary.
