Martinez has been involved with Cal State Fullerton since his freshman year.    Currently, Martinez serves as the re-elected Chair for the College of Communications InterClub Council and freelances some of his videos for the new KCET Orange/CSUF initiative, the “Daily Titan” website, OCRegister.com, and his own company: rePetePro.com.

The RTNA scholarship is in honor of Jim Zaillian, former KNX-AM News Director for ten years, and an active member of RTNA who had a special interest in the education of broadcast journalism students.

According to Ernie Castelo, President of the RTNA Scholarship Foundation, Martinez is the second student in a row from Cal State Fullerton to have earned a scholarship usually dominated by larger universities in Southern California.

The other two student recipients this year were from California State University, Northridge and Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego.

Martinez hopes to find a career in the news industry that combines his passion for journalism, video, technology, and the Internet.
